Am feeling better already. Still not my normal old self, but better than earlier in the week! I'm excited about my photoshoot next weekend and I'm excited about the other 3 I have in the next month as well. I'm going to do some advertising over the next couple of weeks and see if I can book some more. I think sunshine and photos and babies are just what I need at the moment.

Hi, my name's Kristin and I have trouble sticking to and finishing off things I start. I did keep taking daily photos for another few weeks after my last post but I kept forgetting to upload them. Then I started forgetting to take them. Then I decided I didn't really care because seriously, my life's not exciting enough to document anyway. I would've just ended up with 220 photos of Bindi and 145 of random crap. So once again I fail at the 365 project.

To be honest I've been stuck in a gigantic rut for a while now. Some things have happened this year and are still happening that have made me feel sad and anxious and flat. I haven't even picked up my camera for months... the thought of doing a photoshoot next weekend scares me to death. I feel like I've forgotten how to do it but I know that's silly. I hope it'll all be ok once I pick it up and turn it on again. I hope the spark comes back and I don't have to fake my way through it.

I really need to start looking after myself better, I mean mentally. I know the things I need to do to stop me from getting to this place and I know how hard it is to get out once I'm here but still, it keeps happening. I only need one spec of motivation and enjoyment to get me started and to start feeling better. The problem is, I just can't seem to find it anywhere, especially not in the places I usually leave it like inside my camera or a cupcake or a book. This time, it's nowhere to be found!

Man I'm such a drama queen. I bet tomorrow I'll feel better and look back at this and wish I never wrote it, and then probably delete it! Yes, that's it, tomorrow will be a better day. =)

Today I have a movie for you from my new not so secret admirer! When he's here, you can't keep him away from my office for all of the toys in the world! haha

Also, today I went to get my photos printed for my assessment and my usb drive has died. So then I nearly died of a panic attack. Luckily, I'd backed it all up on the computer last night so all was ok... for now!

Today Auntie Karrot & Uncle Rocket came to visit. Was great to catch up with them! After they left I knuckeled down into some homework and then got really frustrated and wanted to cry. Then Terry cooked me tea. Then I went to bed. The end. :)

32: Going solo

Had lunch with Terry today. He's got school this weekend so I had to drive to the other side of the world to see him! Tonight Josh & I were meant to go to a gig together but he had to get up at 5am Sunday to go to Hopetoun. Sorry, didn't have to, just wanted to! So I ended up going solo. :) I met up with a couple of friends at the start when the band started I ditched them to go sneak up to the front so I could actually see - one of the benefits of going to a gig alone is being able to sneak in front of people and them not get angry because they can see over my head anyway! haha. Was an awesome night and I'd definitely do it by myself again if I had to.

It's come to my attention that the photo's I've been taking are terrible! I've basically been taking bad photos of anything just to say I've taken a photo.. So from now on I'm going to make more of an effort. Even if it's just a photo of something boring, I'll do my best to make it look good! As soon as the internet is fixed at home I might even start using Audrey instead of my phone, then I'll take photos to be proud of again!

Today was the end (sort of) of a loooooooooong 3 months of preparing for the Hong Kong symposium. Today was the day I did my neck and back and sent off 70kg worth of manuals to Honkers. Woooohooooooo! Unforunately, people are most likely going to keep registering up until the seminar so I'll still have more manuals to prepare but at least I know the bulk of them are done and have arrived safe and sound at their destination. Oh and I bought this super cute tiny little ramones t-shirt for a new baby I haven't had the pleasure of metting yet! ;) Better remember to send it!

I've finished Red Lotus now. It was interesting. Very, very sad in parts but with a happy ending of course! I got some new books for my birthday from the Keele's so next on my list to read is Cloudstreet by Tim Winton. Can't wait!

Tonight Josh came home with a billion DVD's that his friend had given him. He didn't want them anymore! We assumed they'd all be crappy ones that no one wants to see but no, most of them were awesome! We both ended up with a huge stack each and there's another stack even bigger of left over ones that Josh will give away to other friends. The generousity of people blows me away sometimes! I can't wait to have a massive movie marathon this weekend while the boys are away/at school/work. :)

26: Tim Burton

This morning we slept in then met up with Billows, Sim & Rob for brunch. We were late - as always! And our food took sooooo long to come out! Luckily we were in good company so we didn't mind, although it was pretty cold at our seats outside. After brunch Kell & I went into the city to see the Tim Burton exhibition at Fed Square. First we saw the centre for the moving image and did some fun things like make a flip book and film our own matrix fight scene. Funny stuff! Then off to the Tim part. Loved it! It was soo good! Lots of drawings, paintings, sculptures and costumes. There were dolls from Charlie & the Chocolate Factory there (the ones that get burnt at the start of the factory tour) and costumes from edward scissorhands and alice in wonderland. Very cool! I bought the exhibition book and a pack of cards and I'm going to ask Terry very nicely if he would please buy me The Art of Tim Burton book for christmas because it looks amazing! Then it was time to head to the airport and come home. The flight was perfect this time. Only problem was when I got back I couldn't find my car in long term parking! So I walked around for about half an hour in the rain until I found it. Phew! Silly me!

25: Roller derby

I hung out with Kell this morning while Sim was at work then spent the rest of the day with her just talking and laughing again like old times. Was sooo good to spend some quality time alone with her. I went to the roller derby tonight will Kellie, Crids & Jay. It was so good! I've never been before but I loved it. Definitely a sport I could get into - watching, not playing! I'm too much of a princess to ever play. The girls are so tough! They get pushed over and get straight back up again without even batting an eyelid. I'd be rolling around on the ground crying! haha Afterwards we went out for coffee and cake - or pineapple juice and a bikky for me! Was a great day & night. Not a very good photo but you get the idea!

The weather was gross today. Abosolutely poured down and was sooooo windy! I flew to Melbourne tonight and it was the worst flight I've ever had. There was only 1 time that I was actually scared for my life (just turbulance) but the seat belt sign stayed on the whole trip and they didn't even bring the food and drink out because it was too dangerous. Fun times! I stayed at Sim's place tonight and we sat up late eating m&m's and talking about the good old days. I miss her. :(

Oops! Another day when I forgot to take a proper photo... I took this one tonight at Bunnings. We went there so Terry could get a sander. I find bunnings sooooo boring so I just make my own fun there. I also take photos of me pretending to bop him on the head with a mallet to send to friends. That's love! :)

Today was a much better day at work. Our accounts lady brings her son to work with her and he is such a cutie! He's just turned one and has all of a sudden found out how to get around. Up until now he's been happy to just sit in her office and play but now he's ready for exploring and adventures! He's also recently taken a bit of a liking to me so today while I was plodding away in my office I hear this "herrooo" and turn around to see him there. Sooo cute! Then we waved and clapped and talked to each other for a while. I'll miss him when he doesn't come in anymore - which I think will be soon now that he's getting around so much.

Today was a pretty crappy day at work. I was tired & hormonal so therefore very emotional and ended up getting upset with something my boss said to me. It was also a crazy busy day. Luckily I have my beautiful little family to come home to at night to make things all better. One look at this cute little guy never fails to bring a smile to my face.

Terry had to work today so I had a quiet day in mainly reading my book. I got it for Christmas and had tried to read it a couple of times but just couldn't get into it. Now all of a sudden I'm finding it easy and I love it. It has a lot of Chinese traditions and beliefs in it which I'm finding really interesting because up until now I didn't really know anything about Chinese culture. Now I can't put it down!

Today was freezing! It poured rain so hard I thought the roof was going to cave in and it hailed twice! I had school and of course a massive downpour happened as soon as I left the building to walk around the corner to my car. I know the rain is great but I'm really hanging out for some warmth! We learnt about editing photos to look like Holga photos tonight. We also learnt about colour balance. The picture is of a movie playing on the screen at school about colour balance. Exciting stuff!

14: Snuggle time

Doing this 365 photo thing has made me realize how boring my life is! I don't mind. I like being boring. :) It just makes it hard to find something interesting enough to take a photo of every day - hence the billion photos of Bindi. Lucky he's so cute! So today I worked then came home and read some of my book then cooked tea then read some more then snuggled Bindi. The end. :)

PS. Speaking of Bindi... last night he was having a little nap and when he woke up he came over to me with one eye closed. We got really worried and tried to see if he was ok. He eventually opened it up and it looked fine & he was fine for the rest of the night. Strange cat! Terry thinks he was trying to be a pirate haha. Will definitely keep an "eye" (bahaha!) on him incase it happens again though.

The card table just wasn't working out for me craft-wise. It was way to soft and squishy! So when I found this $33 desk at big w, I had to get it! Then I had to put it together... was much, much harder than the shelves so I had to call in professional help (Terry! hehe). He ended up doing most of it for me because I was getting too frustrated. Now I have a shiney new desk to do my scrapboooking on. Now I just have to start!

12: The most beautiful day ever!

Today was sooooooooooo nice! Sun was out, sky was blue, birds were chirping! Slept in then spent the rest of the morning hanging out in the backyard with Bindi. We were on a picnic blanket and he kept attacking it because it was making a scrunchy noise on the grass. Sooo cute! And check out the blue sky! More of that please! In the afternoon, Terry & I went for a drive to the beach. Went for a walk & collected some gorgeous tiny pink shells... and by some I mean about a billion! Then had some fish & chips and drove along the coast for a bit more. Tonight I cooked a 3 course meal. Nothing fancy but boy was it yum! Entree was stuffed red onions. Soooo good! Main was homemade yiros' and desert was a double choc self saucing pudding. I actually nearly vomitted at the end because I was so full and it was so sweet. Now I remember why I don't normally eat more than 1 course!

Today was pretty nice so I dusted off my headphones and went for a walk. Was awesome until about half way through when I got a massive headache from my new headphones. They're the kind you shove right in your ear. Not cool. Then Terry came home from work and we just hung out. He was pretty puffed from working so much lately so he had a little nap. :)

9: Scones

Tonight I made scones! I love scones but I'm too lazy to make them. Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever made them... and if I have, I'm sure they turned out hard and yuck. But not last night, oh no, last night they were perfect. Thanks to an amazing, ridiculously easy recipe. 2 seconds to make, 5 seconds to cook - done! And they were oooh so yummy. Soft and fluffy, just as they should be. Not a bad mess for 7 seconds of scone making time hey?!

Today was another boring day mostly. I had school tonight, that was fun. The subject I'm doing at the moment is photoshop basics and we learnt how to use masks tonight. Was feeling pretty ordinary by the time I got home though. Really tired, aching leg and weird ovary pain. Excellent.

Nothing really exciting happened today. I think the highlight was going to Spotlight's 20% off sale where I spent more money than I should have. :) Then there was work of course (boriiing). Then I got my nails done. (hence the boring picture.) Then I had tea and went to bed for a giant d&m with the hubby. Talking is good. :) Hopefully tomorrow is more exciting!

6: Craft station part 2!

Now it's complete! Sort of... bought a card table and chair today but the card table has a soft squidgy top which is no good for craft of any sort. So I need to buy some mdf to make a hard top for it. This will do for now though. I even made my first scrapbook page last night! Then I realised I haven't printed any photos to put on it yet.. haha oops! Task for today: print photos!

5: Craft station part 1!

Finally decided what to do with all my birthday monday today - invest in a craft station! Up until now, all of my bits and bobs have lived in a falling apart vacuum cleaner box... not the best way to store paper and other such things! Not very conductive to creativity either! So I went on a hunt for a bookcase, storage boxes, a desk & chair. All on a teeny, tiny budget. Success! I found a bookshelf and storage items from a few cheap shops for next to nothing. Oh and the shelf came flat packed so I put it together myself! :D Couldn't find a decent cheap desk tho unfortunately. But all is not lost! Stay tuned for the finished product tomorrow...

4: Lazy day

Today was a lazy day. I had to leave home early so they could auction our house off (it didn't sell). I bought heaps more scrapbooking stuff then came home and slept for 3 hours. I wasn't feeling well and must've needed it! I would've kept sleeping but Terry came home from work and woke me up. The rest of the day was just as lazy. Snuggled on the couch with my hubby & kitty. Was lovely!

Tonight is cleanfest part 4 in preparation for the auction of our house in the morning. I really hope it's sold so we don't have to keep having open inspections every weekend. I'm over the privacy invasion.

Back to work today. Boo! I'm feeling in a bit of a rut at work at the moment. Hoping things will get better otherwise I might start looking for another job after Hong Kong.

Tonight I spent one of my birthday vouchers. Bought a Billy Joel DVD with all of his filmclips on it :D and a scrapbook. I originally bought it to put Europe photos in but I might make a scrapbook of Terry & I instead. Going to spotlight to buy supplies tomorrow.

Photographic Goals for 2010

I was inspired by this article to create a list of photographic goals for 2010. I'm going to put them here so that I can be kept accountable and hopefully have some help to stick to them along the way!

Make 1 photobook of my photos per month (photos have to have been taken in that month.)
Take 12 photos of something (eg smiles, flowers etc) to make a 2011 calendar with.
Make monthly desktop calendars from my photos to email to family, friends, prospective & past clients.
Take 1 photo of something per day.
Have at least 1 portraiture photoshoot per month. (Not including May when I'll be in Europe!)
Enter at least 5 competitions.
Have an exhibition. (hehe!)
Come up with some creative way to advertise myself.
Shoot at least 2 weddings.
And finally, take more photos of loved ones - whether they like it or not!

I also have these written in my diary so I can refer back to them regularly. I'll keep you posted on if I stick to them or not! So far I'm failing miserably on #4!

Kimbers & I went to a gig last night - Sydonia & Dead Letter Circus. I'd never heard any of Sydonia's mucis & thought I probably wouldn't like them because they're a bit heavier than what I'm usually into but I actually ended up loving them! It was a good night. My first go at gig photography... not overly successful but it could've been worse! Better keep practicing!

Bindi the Boss

My cat Bindi thinks he's the boss of the world! I have to make sure he's inside from dusk to dawn or you can bet your life on the fact that he'll come home covered in blood and scratches! Sometimes I think he fights with possums or maybe dogs... I'm positive he's used at least 7 of his 9 lives! If only the boys I live with would listen to me when I tell them not to let him out at night! He's pretty smoochy & loveable for such a big, tough Tom though. I can always count on him to cheer me up when I'm feeling down. We have some great conversations! Everyone thinks I'm a crazy cat lady... and I think they might be right! =)

Oh Ps. I've made my enormous life changing decision and it feels like a weight has been lifted off my shoulders! Life is good. =)

In completely irrelevent news, I'm really happy with my terms work so far. I've seen a real improvement in my photos. I think this subject - photographic design - has taught me the most out of everything I've learnt so far! If only this was one of the first subjects you could do...

Feeling a bit flat today. Still have the big life changing decision to make. Don't know what to do. Need to get some health issues sorted out instead of just putting up with them. Think everything's just gotten a bit much for me at the moment. Really need this holiday. Not long now! I'm really worried about when Alison goes on maternity leave because I don't have enough time to do what I'm doing now while she's still here... I don't know where I'll find time to do this and more once she's gone. I wish they had've hired a replacement while she's gone. Even just a part time temp. I hate to wish my life away but I really can't wait until October next year when I can finally leave and persue something that actually interests me.
Ok that's enough of being a sadsack. Off to do some work and be more positive!

I am so exhausted. Terry went away for work on Sunday morning & I haven't slept right since. It annoys me so much that I can't sleep without him. I don't even know why it is... Josh is here so I feel safe & Bindi is claiming the spot where Terry sleeps so it's not like the bed is empty. I just can't wait til he gets back to I can have a full nights sleep & a massive catch up sleep in! Lucky he's not here to deal with my tired grumpiness!

Besides the sleep thing, it hasn't been too bad having him gone. I do miss him but I've been too busy for it to bother me too much & Josh is good at keeping me company.

I've been doing my Christmas shopping this week. Early I know but I wanted to make the most of the Christmas layby's. I've done Big W & Kmart, just have Target to go! It feels good being so organised!

Well, I guess it's time to do some work now...

I'm feeling really crappy today. I've been made to feel really bad about something that has nothing to do with me at all. I've got my photography assessment tonight but I'm not going. I feel sick and just want to go home to bed. I really hope I don't lose the only friend I have here over this.

Well my motivation didn't last long... Think it's just because I'm sick though. Think my cold's turned into a chest infection now so I really don't feel like doing much at all.

The weekend went exactly to plan! Except I sat in my armchair in front of the computer watching greys, not on the couch. Watched the whole season in 2 days. =) My eyes are still swolen and sore from crying! I took some photos on Sunday night too. Got a couple of good ones... assessment is coming up soon so hopefully I get enough by then. Will go out again one night this week to take more.

In other news, I'm getting my hair cut tomorrow night. Nothing drastic, just a trim. But my hair is in serious need of some loving. It's so gross at the moment. Completely frazzled. My hair used to be so nice and shiney but since I've moved to Adelaide, the water's just killed it. And my skin. I miss being mousturized. =( So I'm going to talk to the hairdresser about which priducts to use to make it look more like hair and less like a hay bail. I've tried heaps of different things but none have worked so far. =( I'm also thinking about getting a fringe again... would ideally like to lose some weight first though so I don't look like a cabbage patch doll again like last time!

Well, back to work I guess... I'm seriously sick of this place. =(

Long weekend!

Very much looking forward to the long weekend! I wish I had've realised ages ago that it was coming up so that I could've organised to go home or do something. Oh well!
I've got a cold so my plans consist of sitting on the couch with my blanky watching greys anatomny, oh and venturing out into the cold to take photos at some stage.

I've been feeling really good and motivated this week. It's been a long, long time since I've felt like this so I'm making the most of it! I'm actually enjoying taking photos and I've even started exercising again! Now that I've sorted through some issues, I think it might even last! Yay!

Busy, busy, busy!

I can't believe it's March already! I've done so much this year which I guess is why it's going so fast - time flies when you're having fun!

So far this year I've:

Been to Perth
Moved house
Moved office
Been to 4 fringe festival shows
Celebrated our 1 year wedding anniversary
Been to the Adelaide cup

I'm also in the process of completing 'Introduction to the Studio' as part of my photography course & researching building a house, not to mention work! Phew! No wonder I'm tired! I'm ready for a holiday!!

Our anniversary was nice but I'm kicking myself for not organising something special. It was just so hard with going to the races yesterday & Terry going away next weekend... not much money left over to do anything. I should've organised a picnic or something that didn't cost much. Oh well, there's always next year! We did go out for tea at what used to be our favourite restaurant... but they've changed owners (& chefs!) since we were last there! We waited an hour and a half for our meals and mine was gross and nothing like it used to be! At least we have an excuse to visit new restaurants now so we can find a new favourite!

Next weekend Terry's going to Geelong with the boys to an airshow and I'm going to see a band with a girlfriend and. I can't wait! I think I'll spend the rest of the weekend sleeping and baking and reading! Bliss!

I'm so glad we moved into this house when we did! It's soo easy to keep reasonably coolish - unlike the oven we used to live in! Lucky I like the heat because boy has it been hot! I even got 2 afternoons off work alst week because our air con died on one of the 44 degree days we had! =(

The new place is coming along nicely... I wish I could say we're completely unpacked but truth be told, we're far from it! I try to do a bit every night and on weekends but living with 2 boys, it's hard enough trying to keep the place clean, let alone unpack at the same time! I figure the less there is unpacked, the less they have to mess up! I feel a roster may be in order! I'll post some more photo's of the place with our furniture in when (or if!) I ever get the place finished!

I start school again tomorrow night. I actually drove there last Wednesday night because I thought it started last week! Silly me! I'm really looking forward to it but I'm also fairly nervous because it's a very hands on subject with lots of practical work... living on the other side of the city to school will makes things a lot harder too. But anyway, stay tuned for more of my work in the coming weeks!

New Year, New Beginning

I'm going to try to write on here more often this year... we'll see how successful that plan turns out to be!

There's a lot going on in my life at the moment... All good, positive changes.

Firstly, we're moving tomorrow! Into an amazingly beautiful house with cooling AND heating and a dishwasher! It's so amazing I can hardly believe it!

Secondly, my little brother Josh has moved in with us... it's been 7 days and so far it's going well. The novelty hasn't worn off yet and we're enjoying each other's company. He's got himself a job already! I'm so proud of him!

Thirdly, we're most likely moving our office soon! Not too far away, just down the road. We're downsizing because the space we have here is ridiculous for the 3 of us and downsizing means less rent which means I get my payrise! Yay!! Suddenly our dreams of going to Europe or buying a house seem a little more realistic!

And lastly, I'm about to start term 4 of my photography course which means I'm almost half way through! I can't believe how fast it's gone! I'm going to work so hard at it this year and try to develop my own style and not experiment with a million different ones like I have been.

I took this photo a few weeks ago. It was night time and raining and I had to stand in the middle of the road on an island and get Terry to hold the umbrella over my camera! It was definitely worth the effort though, I love this photo! I love how the lights look like stars, I love the stillness of the sign and I love the lines of light from the headlights of cars driving past.

This gorgeous little old couple were sitting down at the Bay eating ice cream and I couldn't resist getting a photo of them! I think the lady was a bit hard of hearing as she didn't hear me ask to take a photo and her husband had to explain it to her.

I saw this lady sitting down at the Bay knitting and thought it was quite interesting but being the shy person I am, I couldn't work up the courage to ask if I could take her photo. I went off and took photo's of other things and told myself that if she was still ther when I got back, I had to ask her. And there she was! I didn't get her name but she told me she was knitting a sock and had dropped a stitch so was going backwards to correct it. She told me her sister lives in Tasmania and keeps sending her wool so she just keeps knitting socks! =)

I'm really looking forward to 2008. I'm getting married to the man I love... the only person in the whole entire world who knows everything about me, yet loves me regardless. I don't know what else next year has in store for me, but I have a good feeling about it. Lately I've been getting my creatvity back and have started taking photo's and making things again. Next year I want to dance and do all the things we've talked about but not done. I want to exercise more and worry less. I want to make new friends and make an effort to keep in contact with old friends. I want to dance around in a tutu and play singstar. I want to go home to my family more often. And most of all, I want to be happy all year.

Again it has been so long since I last wrote! And of course, so much has happened...

The wedding is only 3 months and 1 day away now... I can't believe it. Mum and I started on the invites on the weekend. I'm planning on sending them out in early January so that gives me a bit of time to finish them off.

Terry had an accident at work almost 3 weeks ago and broke all 5 toes on his left foot. He's so lucky he was wearing steel caps (which was what actualy broke his toes) otherwise his foot would have been crushed. He's having an operation tomorrow to screw a piece of his nuckle back into his big toe. I know he'll be fine but he's pretty worried because he watches too many medical shows and has a fair idea of what's involved in the surgery!

My Great Nanna Zanker passed away a week ago today. It was a huge shock as she was healthy and still living at home by herself. She just went to bed on Thursday night and when the home help lady came on Friday, she was gone. The funeral was on Tuesday and then we went back to her place afterwards. It was a very hard, emotional day and sad knowing that was probably the last time I'll see her house.

On a happier note; I'm getting some cosmetic work done on my teeth next Friday. Nothing too drastic, just getting a veneer on my "peg" tooth and getting another tooth filled out a bit and getting a filling. I'm excited about getting my tooth fixed but also scared about the filling. I hate needles in my mouth! Well, I hate them anywhere, but in my mouth the worst!

I can't believe it's only 2 and a bit weeks until christmas. I'm usually so organised but this year I'm not at all. I did most of my christmas shopping yesterday and still have a couple of things to get.

I joined a gym a couple of weeks ago. I've had one session with a personal trainer (which was so hard I nearly vomitted at the end) and I've also done an aqua aerobics class. I'm hoping to go back to do another aqua class tonight and fingers crossed I'll go 3 times a week from now on. There just always seems to be so much on lately and I'm always busy after work! I do have the option of going at 6am... but I just don't think I could bring myself to do it!

Well that's enough for one blog I think! Hopefully I'll write again sooner than last time!

It's been soooooo long since I last wrote! I've been so busy but also feeling really crappy so I've only been doing what I have to. This IVS has really knocked me around. For a month or so there, I felt absolutely shocking. My boss kept saying how pale and in pain I looked. Thankfully, I did get better (for a week!!) but then it flared up again. I'm feeling a lot better today so hopefully it stays this way! :) I actually didn't realise how good I was feeling last time until I went downhill again. So anyway, that's why I haven't been around much.

Today is my last day of work until next Wednesday because I'm going to Melbourne to go bridemsaid dress shopping! I can't wait! I'm also so excited that I get to spend my birthday with my mum and best friends. It's not very often I get to do that these days. Then on Sunday we're going to see Joel's band play at a charity concert. I'm so excited about seeing him again. And to hear him sing! I'm going to video tape it so if the quality is good I'll send you a copy on DVD nan. :)

Well I'd really better get back to work. There's so much left to do before I go. I always seem to leave things until the last second... I still haven't even finished packing! haha I'll write in here again when I get back to let everyone know how dress shopping went!

Here are all the earrings I've made. I LOVE the first pair and the last pair, just not sure about the other two. I might sell them and make another set of the two I like. Plenty of time to figure that out!

So far I've lost 6kg!!

The first photo was taken at the Big Day Out on Feb 2nd this year and the second photo was taken today, April 24th. This is the first time I've put photo's of me back then next to me now and it's a huge shock! I knew I'd lost weight but I couldn't see it that much until now!

I'm not sure how much more I want to lose. I'll just keep going until I'm happy. It's really just my belly I need to work on now and I need to tone up now. Everything is all floppy now since losing weight! haha.

Tired

Thank goodness it's Friday! I haven't been sleeping well this week and I have no idea why but it's made me soooooo tired! My tummy has been really sore again for the last couple of days too. I thought it was all better! =( I'm really looking forward to a sleep in tomorrow! After that I'm meeting up with a friend to do some shopping. I need some new pants because none of mine fit any more (thanks to losing 6kg! yay!!) then I think I'll go home and work on the jewellery I'm making for the wedding. It's hard to find time to do it because I want it to be a surprise for Terry but he's always there! haha. He has to work on Saturday so I'll make the most of the time I have! Then tomorrow night we might go to the movies. I really want to see 'Meet the Robinsons'. It looks hilarious! And I've still got 2 tickets I need to use that I got for Christmas from work. At this stage, I think Sunday will be a pretty quiet day because it's the only day Terry has off. Here's a picture of the earring I made last night for one of my bridesmaids.

Endometriosis

It's just hit me. I have endometriosis. I was told this last Monday but the words didn't really mean much until today. I was out of it for all of last week from my pain killers and then there was Easter so I guess today is the first day I've had to actually sit down and think about it. I'm feeling very emotional and confused. I don't understand much about what is going to happen to me from now on and it's so frustrating!! I have so many questions and no one to answer them, well not until the 31st of May when I go back to my surgeon. I can't believe I have to wait that long. I'm going to drive myself crazy with 'what if's' by then. All they could tell me when I was in hospital was that they found "a bit of endometriosis". I don't know where. I don't know how bad this 'bit' is. I don't know if they got rid of it while they were in there. And today I'm starting to feel the pain again... on top of the pain I'm still feeling from my operation, so I guess it's also the first time I've had to think that maybe they couldn't do anything and I have to live with this pain forever. I think up until today, I thought that everything was going to be ok. I think I'm just tired and overwhelmed by it all at the moment. I know it's not the end of the world, and I know I shouldn't whinge when there are so many people in the world who are so much worse off than I am but I just can't help but feel sorry for myself at the moment. I know it will pass, but for now I think I need a hug and a cry.

Delayed appreciation for a random act of kindess!

My Nanna is the greatest!!! She knows exactly what to do to make me feel better and exactly when to do it!

I was having a particularly down time a few weeks ago and then there was a knock on my door. It was the mail man with a parcel. I thought ‘wow that’s weird, it’s not even nearly my birthday’. Then I saw who it was from and a massive smile crossed my face straight away. I knew it’d be a thoughtful, caring gift to remind me that I am special and loved.

My gorgeous new angel teddy now sits on the mantle piece in my room with my most treasured childhood toy, Ruby bear. Thank you Nanna! I love you!

Fringe Festival

The Fringe Festival is on here at the moment and we’ve always wanted to go and check it out but have never gotten around to it. This year we decided to actually do it instead of just talk about it!

Last Wednesday a friend and I met up in town for an iced chocolate. After that we thought we’d go down to the ‘Garden of Unearthly Delights’ and see what was happening there. On the way we got given 2 free tickets to a comedy show that night which was awesome! We wandered down to the garden and had a look at the stalls and people on the trapeze swings. – You could have a go for $15 but I was way to scared!! We then went and saw a cute mini puppet show in a tiny, hot tent then walked over to the Rhino Room to the comedy show, ‘Splitting the Bill’. It was so funny! I pretty much didn’t stop laughing the whole way though!!

Then on Saturday night Terry and I went in again and had a look at the garden again and also the ‘International Buskers Festival’. It was great but we mainly only saw the same people as last year (it was the only fringe thing we did last year). After that we had tea on Hindley Street then went to see a cabaret show called ‘Freakaphrenic’. It was soooo funny!!! We loved it and would love to go and see it again!

On Sunday we went back in and looked at the Festival centre markets and then the Hindley Street markets. We had another look at the garden and saw some more buskers then tried to find a café that was hosting some visual art exhibitions we really wanted to see but we couldn’t find it anywhere! (we found the address in our map book afterwards so we’ll go back during the week or on the weekend to see them).

Well that’s it for our Fringe experience so far but hopefully there’ll be more to come before it ends! I love the Fringe!

Adam Hyland

We have a chiropractor who moved here from South Africa two years ago to work with us. He is 32 and he has a wife Noesja and two children Noah and Jonah.

In January he was diagnosed with cancer. He passed away at 11.30 this morning.

It is comforting to know that he is no longer suffering and in pain but I really feel for the young family he has left behind. Please pray for Noesja and her boys.

Wedding & Work

Well this wedding feels like it’s finally starting to come together. After doing bits and pieces every now and then, the planning is getting more constant and more exciting!

So far we’ve booked the ceremony venue, the celebrant, the reception venue and the photographer. I’ve asked a friend to be the videographer, I have my dress, I’ve started buying things so I can start making the table decorations and the bombonniere, I’ve bought beads, wire and tools so I can start making our jewellery and I’m in the process of booking the cars and make up artist at the moment.

I’m hoping to get everything done by Christmas because the end and start of the year are always crazy and seeing as though I’m the biggest stress head ever I think it’ll be for the best if I’m as organised as I can be!

Things are going really well on the work front at the moment too. I’ve just been asked if I’d like to be the marketing person for ‘Kiro for Kids’ which I’m so excited about!!

My boss, Dr Neil Davies, travels overseas to Thailand twice a year to treat orphans at the ‘Children of the Golden Triangle’ and the ‘New Life Foundation’. ‘Kiro for Kids’ was set up to raise funds to pay for these trips to Thailand and also to sponsor children.

We are currently sponsoring 3 children; Akha Pohchar, Weerasat Merlae and Mata Myer, but would like to be able to help more hence me starting to market the project to raise awareness.

Neil and his colleagues were able to treat around 1200 children last year which was great! Hopefully this year we’ll be able to raise more money to sponsor more children and to fund other doctors to go over with Neil to help out. I’m so happy to be part of this! It’s going to be a great challenge and so rewarding to know we’ve been able to help more children.
